MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET / SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are now called Safety Data Sheets (SDS) by the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).

To learn more about the name change and the GHS standards visit the CCOHS website.

The law requires Canadian employers to have Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in the workplace for the specific chemicals they use. The purpose of an SDS is to provide employees and emergency workers with detailed safety information and proper handling instructions.

Locating A Safety Data Sheet

An HD Supply part number is required. This information can be found on an invoice and/or packing list.

You can access an SDS sheet by:

  1. Using the HD Supply Website Search Function
    • Type in the HD Supply part number or product name into the search bar and click the Search icon.
    • Click on the product page
    • Scroll to the bottom of the product page to locate the SDS Field.

Note: Not all products have a Safety Data Sheet. For help finding an SDS email HD Supply.
